AlphaDogs completes Bonus Materials for Star Wars Trilogy DVD Boxed Set

Leva FilmWorks Featurettes present never-before-seen interviews and footage from Star Wars Trilogy

Leva FilmWorks, Inc., a full-service entertainment and production company specializing in DVD special features and cinema-themed documentaries, today announced the completion of documentary work on the upcoming Star Wars Trilogy DVD, scheduled for release on September 21.

Included in the Star Wars Trilogy four-disc boxed set are three featurettes by Leva FilmWorks: The Birth of the Lightsaber, The Characters of Star Wars and The Force is With Them: The Legacy of Star Wars. Each title features interviews with members of the cast and crew, including George Lucas, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, as well as never-before-seen footage and images from each of the original three episodes. The company also produced three new Star Wars audio commentaries featuring George Lucas and Carrie Fisher, among others.

“Making the Star Wars featurettes was a treat for me,” said Gary Leva, president of Leva FilmWorks. “So many of the motifs and characters in these films are part of world culture now… I think fans are really going to enjoy learning where they came from. There are definitely some fun surprises in there.”

Leva and his production company, Leva FilmWorks, have worked with Lucasfilm on more than a dozen projects, from the acclaimed mockumentary R2-D2: Beneath the Dome to bonus material and audio commentaries for the current Star Wars DVDs, Episodes I and II. The company has also produced documentaries and DVD special features for such studios as Warner Home Video and MGM.

For the Star Wars Trilogy DVD, Leva FilmWorks worked closely with AlphaDogs, Inc., a post-production studio headquartered in Burbank. Leva entrusted AlphaDogs as his one-stop finishing and design studio. AlphaDogs was responsible for all online color correcting as well as design work, including the main titles in the Star Wars featurettes.

“Working with AlphaDogs was a big help on these projects. The schedule was very tight and there were last-minute changes, so I needed an online facility that was flexible enough and versatile enough to handle whatever challenges came up,” said Leva. “The entire AlphaDogs team is great, but the bottom line for me is always the quality of the final product—and Terry Curren is the most talented colorist I’ve ever worked with.
